A few weeks ago, Advisory & Mentoring conducted a survey around its unique and powerful 12 Pivot-Points Methodology.
We won’t beat around the bush: the preliminary findings are concerning.
This is what we have found so far:

Pivot-Point: Outcomes
 80% of respondents believe that 25% to 75% of all types of organisations fail to deliver their KPOs.
Pivot-Point: Markets
 70% of respondents believe that 75% to 100% of all organisations have one or more market segments that fail to contribute to the organisation’s KPOs.
Pivot Point: Products and/or Services
 Half of respondents believe that 75% to 100% of all organisations have products and services that fail to contribute to the organisation’s KPOs.
Pivot Point: Channels
 50% of respondents believe that 50% to 100% of all organisations have their distribution, sales, and communication channels fail to deliver the performance objectives intended of them.
Pivot-Point: Support
 40% of respondents believe that 50% to 100% of all organisations have support platforms, systems, and processes fail to deliver the level of support required for the organisation’s employees, customers, or suppliers.
Pivot-Point: Sales
 Half of respondents believe that 25% to 50% of all organisation’s sales and communications activities fail to deliver the KPOs required by the organisation
Pivot-Point: Human Resources
 50% of respondents believe that 25% to 50% of the human resources used, and their supporting culture fail to optimise the efficiency and effectiveness intended of them.
Pivot-Point: Systems
 Half of respondents believe that 25% to 50% of the human resources used, and their supporting culture fail to optimise the efficiency and effectiveness intended of them.
Pivot-Point: Management
 30% of respondents believe that 75% to 100% of all organisations consider management structure early in the planning process (within the first 25% of the planning process).
Pivot-Point: Outcomes
 40% of respondents believe that 50% to 75% of all organisations fail to deliver the outcomes ($, #, %) specified in their operating plans.
Pivot-Point: Plans
 40% of respondents believe that 50% to 75% of all organisations have a Strategic Plan framework that differs from the Operating Plan framework?

Let’s be clear, we weren’t asking respondents about their own organisation. We were asking about what respondents believed about all other organisations.

So what does this tell us?

1. There exists a significant-to-high level of perceived failure across all of the 12 Pivot-Points across all organisations, industries and economies.
2. Companies and organisations appear to have failed to optimise performance in each of their 12 Pivot-Points.
3. Sub-optimal performance in each of the 12 Pivot-Points represents billions of dollars of lost profits across most economies.
4. Some companies and organisations have serious performance issues in one or more of the 12 Pivot-Points.
